A Legacy of Vision and Joy

Our story begins with Doreen Jackson, born in 1932. She lived through the Great Depression and WWII, but it was the post-war years that defined her spirit—an era bursting with fashion, culture, and freedom. Doreen embraced life with colour, character, and an undeniable sense of style. One thing she always longed for? The return of the flamboyant glasses styles of the 1950s and ’60s.

She wore glasses from a young age, yet was stuck with plain, uninspired frames. So, in her honour, we created JOIUSS™—a collection of high-quality boutique eyewear inspired by the very designs she adored, reimagined for the modern world.

What’s in a Name?

JOIUSS (pronounced “JOY-USS”) is more than a brand—it’s a family story. The name is an anagram of our founder Paul Gibson’s children: Julia, Oscar, and Ischia. Each frame carries a piece of that legacy, blending love, heritage, and vibrant individuality.

Why Vintage?

We specialise in retro-inspired glasses with a twist. Our mission is to bring back the expressive, statement styles lost when British frame production moved overseas. From bold cat eyes to sculpted brows and standout colours, our frames combine classic silhouettes with the best modern materials.

Why Now—and Why Online?

We saw a gap: vintage-style glasses were hard to find, and when they were, the prices were sky-high. By selling online, we cut out the middleman and pass the savings to you—offering exceptional value without compromising on quality.
